What to bring

A light jacket for the morning boat, then the desert kit: comfortable shoes, sunglasses, a sun hat, sunscreen and water. The listing is explicit that the weather changes twice in a day here — cold and damp at sea before nine, hot and dry on the sand by four.

Per person, this is the most expensive way to see the oasis from Lima. Per group it is closer to the field than the headline suggests, because a shared seat is charged per person too — the gap narrows as the party grows, and disappears entirely against a family of four booking four seats on a premium coach.

What the gap is really buying

A vehicle that waits, a guide who answers in your language, and a day that can be reordered on the spot — a longer stop at the vineyard, an earlier run at the dunes, a detour when the wind picks up at the pier. Those are real for travellers with small children, limited mobility on a long day, or no Spanish or English. For everyone else the honest recommendation is a small-group listing: Lima Experience caps at 35 and still includes the two-hour buggy, the lunch and the picnic.
